KS2 Singing Assembly Sing-a-longs

Here are a few of our favourite songs and lyrics to sing along to, while you spend time away from school.

For some of the songs, I have included the performance tracks to remind you of the tune and harmonies but, when you're ready, use the backing tracks to sing along to instead, so you can add your own personal Gledhow touch!

Be kind online (performance track).mp3Be kind online (backing track).mp3

Be nice and friendly, for online safety. X4

When you go online be kind to each other,
'cause no-one likes a bully so be nice to each other. X2

Sitting in your bedroom chatting with your friends,
Online gossip and jokes to send.
What would you do? What would you say?
Take care what you comment, or walk away. Oh,

When you go online be kind to each other,
'cause no-one likes a bully so be nice to each other. X2

(Be nice and friendly, for online safety. X4)

Someone makes a comment that you think is bad.
If it was about you, you know you'd feel sad!
What would you do? What would you say?
Take care what you comment, or walk away. Oh,

When you go online be kind to each other,
'cause no-one likes a bully so be nice to each other. X2

(Be nice and friendly, for online safety. X4)

You stop, think, and don't reply!
Find an adult you can trust nearby.
What would you do? What would you say?
Take care what you comment, or walk away. Oh,

When you go online be kind to each other,
'cause no-one likes a bully so be nice to each other. X4

As (backing track).mp3

Just as round the sun the earth knows she’s revolving,
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early May,
Just as hate knows love’s the cure,
You can rest your mind assured,
I’ll be loving you always.

As now can’t reveal the mystery of tomorrow,
But in passing will grow older every day,
Just as all is born is new,
You know what I say is true:
I’ll be loving you always.

Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky.
Always.
Until the ocean covers every mountain high.
Always.
Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea.
Always.
Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream.

Did you know that true love asks for nothing?
Her acceptance is the way we pay,
Did you know that life has given love a guarantee
To last forever another day?

Just as time knew to move on since the beginning
And the seasons know exactly when to change
Just as kindness knows no shame
Know through all your joy and pain
That I'll be loving you always

As today I know I'm living but tomorrow
Could make me the past but that I mustn't fear
For I'll know deep in my mind
The love of me I've left behind
'Cause I'll be loving you always

Until the day is night and night becomes the day.
Always.
Until the trees and sea just up and fly away.
Always.
Until the day that eight times eight times eight is four.
Always.
Until the day that is the day that are no more.

Always (x5)

Raise my voice (performance track).mp3Raise my voice (backing track).mp3

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh. (x 2)

Got something to say, got a difference to make,
A part I can play and a role I can take,
I believe in myself, express how I feel,
I like who I am and I’m keepin’ it real.

Raise my voice, make a noise,
’Cos we’re all havin’ fun with it. (Fun with it.)
Can’t you see, this is me
And it’s OK to go for it. (Go for it.)

Raise my voice, make a noise,
’Cos we’re all havin’ fun with it. (Fun with it.)
Can’t you see, this is me
And it’s OK to go for it.
Makes me wanna sing!

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh. (x2)

I want to be strong, live long and be safe.
My generation has something to say,
So much to learn, enjoy and achieve.
I reach for my goal to be all I can be.

Raise my voice, make a noise,
’Cos we’re all havin’ fun with it. (Fun with it.)
Can’t you see, this is me
And it’s OK to go for it. (Go for it.)

Raise my voice, make a noise,
’Cos we’re all havin’ fun with it. (Fun with it.)
Can’t you see, this is me
And it’s OK to go for it.
Makes me wanna sing!

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh. (x 2)

(Chanted) BULLYING? NO!
WORK TOGETHER? YES!
HIDE MYSELF? NO!
BE ME? YEAH!

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh. (x 2)

Strong side by side, we lift those who fall,
Stand by our friends and we hear when they call.
Let’s all make a change, all play our part,
It takes you and me, and here’s where it starts:

Raise my voice, make a noise,
’Cos we’re all havin’ fun with it. (Fun with it.)
Can’t you see, this is me
And it’s OK to go for it. (Go for it.)

Raise my voice, make a noise,
’Cos we’re all havin’ fun with it. (Fun with it.)
Can’t you see, this is me
And it’s OK to go for it.
Makes me wanna sing!

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh. (x 4)

At Gledhow, we use the basis of a wonderful educational music scheme called Charanga.  Th scheme provides year group specific programmes of work as well as material that offers the opportunity for teachers to go 'freestyle' and create bespoke programmes for their learners, with quality recordings and resources that will inspire.

Music is studied every half term with all elements of music being studied and applied to composition and performance. The units of work taught are in addition to learning songs in class and assembly and our comprehensive provision of music lessons for those families who are interested.

Music lessons cover the three strands of Listening and Appraising, Musical Dimensions and Performing and Composing. These are all studied each year with the children being challenged at an ever increasing level as they are introduced to age appropriately higher level musical units.

Listening and Appraising

Throughout the year, children are  taught to develop their ability to listen and appraise by careful consideration of the musical elements being presented and by developing their ability to assess the relative qualities of the music studied.  Our programme of work includes music by composers from a range of points in musical history as well as focusing on more recent contemporary artists and composers.

Musical Dimensions

Children are taught to develop their understanding of music by studying the elements that are essential to developing compositions. These building blocks such as Pulse, Rhythm and Pitch are taught separately, practised and applied during each developmental unit of work.

Children are also helped to appreciate that, whilst essential constituent parts of music are important in themselves, it is how they are combined that is crucial in a well conceived piece of work.

Composing and Performing

The final strand of our teaching incorporates the other two in order to develop finished pieces of work and to perform them for an audience. As part of this process, children plan how they hope their music will affect their audience. Children gradually build their confidence as composers and performers and are  encouraged to take an active part in the many musical opportunities available at Gledhow and out of school.
