Gledhow Art Gallery 2022-23

Art

At Gledhow we offer children a high quality engaging art curriculum which is accessible to all, maximising the development of every child’s ability and challenging all pupils. The enjoyment of art is promoted, progressively building on children’s previous work, achievements, and skills. We value the importance of arts provision that nurtures every child, and believe it should enable each individual to use their imagination and inspire creativity, take risks and extend their cultural understanding. Through planning enjoyable, memorable learning experiences, we aim to develop all individual’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding of the world in which they live and enabling them to see the world more clearly. At Gledhow we use the Kapow Curriculum which alligns directly to the National Curriculum for Art.

bear cub

I am very excited to announce that our school will be part of the Leeds Bear Hunt trail 2023.

We have ordered our bear cub and it will be arriving in school very soon. We will be running a competition to design a bear cub. The artist/artists of the winning design will have the opportunity to paint their design on to the bear cub. This bear cub will then become part of the Leeds Bear Hunt trail and you will be able to spend the summer going on a bear hunt across Leeds. The Bear will then have a permanent residence within our school grounds.

The design needs to reflect what it is like at Gledhow School. How will we make our bear stand out? Remember the design will need  to be painted on the bear, so only design what you can paint. It might be that our bear is abstract, reflecting the uniqueness of our school.

I am hoping that everyone gets behind this excxiting event.
