School Meals Provision
Gledhow meals are cooked from fresh in our school kitchens by the LCC catering team. Children are able to concentrate and learn better when they have eaten a healthy, balanced lunch – school meals can be the simple solution. Our menus provide a high quality nutritionally balanced choice of meals for the children. Please see our menu below. The children order their meal at registration each day so that meals can then be freshly prepared to order.
Since September 2014, school meals for ALL children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been completely FREE! This provides a saving to families of approximately £460 per year for each child.

School Meals and Packed Lunches
Some parents may wish their child to enjoy a packed lunch provided from home, rather than a school meal. Requests to change school meals to packed lunches or vice-versa should only happen at the end of each half-term.
Please send your child's packed lunch in a wipeable lunch box and remind your child that they should not share their lunch with other children - its just for them to enjoy.
Gledhow Primary School politely requests that you do not include any items in your child's lunch that may contain nuts - including cereal bars, nut-based sandwich fillings and whole nuts. This is for the safety of the children in school who have a nut allergy.

If you need assistance with applying, please contact the School Office.
Even if your child receives a Universal Free School Meal (all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2), if you are eligible for Free School Meals, we would encourage you to still apply. The school may receive additional funding and/or support for each child that is eligible.
Food allergies & special diets
Our kitchen team are experienced in catering for specific dietary needs. If you have any concerns relating to food allergies or dietary needs, please contact office@gledhowschool.org or Telephone: 0113 2930392. We can also organise a meeting with Charn Kaur who leads our kitchen team if you have specific concerns.

Nursery and Years 3 to 6 - £2.50 per day, £12.50 per week
